Kazuya Minekura's Journey To The West inspired bishonen adventure Saiyuki has begun preparing for 2017's celebration of its 20th anniversary. A website has launched, revealing that the series' fourth, iteration, 2009's Saiyuki Reload Blast will be adapted into an anime, and that a stage event with cast Toshihiko Seki, Soichiro Hoshi, Hiroaki Hirata, and Akira Ishida, exhibition of manga art and celebration will January 7 and 8, 2017 at Chiba's Makuhari Messe.
The series has previosly been adapted into a 1999 OVA, 2000 TV anime, 2001 movie, 2002 OVA, 2003 ReLoad TV anime, 2004 ReLoad GunLock TV anime, 2007 OVA, and 2011 OVA.
