Kaiohsha Brings Modern Classics to Life with Famous Voice Actors

Japanese publishers Kaiohsha are bringing a little class to a line of modern literature classics with a series of audio book adaptations featuring readings by famous voice actors.

Their most recent releases, under the Kaiohsha Bunko imprint, include audio book versions of Edogawa Rampo's The Demon of the Lonely Island (read by Mamoru Miyano) and Mori Ōgai's short stories Takasebune and Sansho the Bailiff (read by Tatsuhisa Suzuki).

Earlier releases include Natsume Sōseki's I Am a Cat (read by Yūki Kaji) and Jun'ichirō Tanizaki's Naomi (aka A Fool's Love, read by Nobuhiko Okamoto). Yoshimasa Hosoya, Takahiro Sakurai, Kishō Taniyama, and Daisuke Ono are also among the list of actors that have lent their voices to audio books published under the Kaiohsha Bunko imprint.
