The main cast and broadcast schedule have been announced for Nyanbo!, a short form TV anime based on a spin-off of the "Danbo" cardboard robot character from the Yotsuba&! manga by Kiyohiko Azuma.
Nyanbo! follows the carefree lives of a group of cardboard cats from outer space that live in an attic and try not to let humans see them. The cast of Nyanbo! includes:
Romi Park as Tora, a dependable boy cat that is always thinking of his younger sister. Tora dreams of returning to space, so everyday he struggles to find pieces of the UFO that brought the Nyanbos to Earth.
Rie Kugimiya as Kotora, Tora's cute and innocent little sister. Described as a bundle of curiousity, Kotora is always bouncing around, filled with energy.
Yui Horie as Shiro, a fashionable girl cat. Shiro is in love with Tora, and she's often so infatuated with him that she loses sight of everything else, including her surroundings.
Yūko Sanpei as Kuro, a mysterious cat who rarely speaks. Kuro isn't well liked by the other Nyanbos, so he tries to win them over by helping out with his special skills.
And Junko Takeuchi as Mike, an energetic and powerful boy cat. Mike is filled with tender feelings for his fellow Nyanbos, but he's a bit clumsy and he often acts without thinking first.
Nyanbo! will broadcast on NHK's E TV channel every Tuesday at 6:40 AM JST and again at 5:20 PM JST beginning on September 27, 2016. Each episode is approximately 5 minutes long.
