"Ultra Musical Bakumatsu Rock Kurobune Raikou (Black Ships Arrive), the second musical from the Bakumatsu Rock franchise, opened at Kyoto Theater on August 20, and the tickets for the three performances in Kyoto for two days were all sold out, including a few restricted view seats. The musical will move to EX THEATER ROPPONGI in Tokyo for 11 performances from September 3 to 9. Tickets for September 3, 4, and the last performance on September 9 are also already sold out.
The story of the Bakumatsu Rock world is set in the Bakumatsu-Meiji period in Japan (around 1853-1870), which has been used as the theme for many Japanese fictional novels, TV dramas, films, stage plays, manga, anime, and games. The franchise launched with the PSP rhythm adventure game in February 2014, then the 12-episode TV anime series was aired from July to September in the same year. The first musical was performed in Tokyo in December 2014, then it has its second run in Osaka and Tokyo in the summer of the following year.
