A new film from the KING OF PRISM franchise, titled KING OF PRISM -PRIDE the HERO-, is set for a release in Japan in June 2017. The news was revealed with a PV at the "Over The Rainbow SPECIAL THANKS PARTY!" event at Tokyo International Forum yesterday, September 11. According to the video, the Prism Star training school Edel Rose will be on the brink of collapse and the future of the Over The Rainbow unit will be uncertain in the new film. It is scheduled to be screened at theaters across Japan including Shinjuku Wald 9 in Tokyo.
The franchise has featured the three-member male idol unit Over The Rainbow, who first appeared in Pretty Rhythm: Rainbow Live, the third Pretty Rhythm TV anime aired in Japan from April 2013 to March 2014. The 59-minute first film, KING OF PRISM by Pretty Rhythm was released in Japan on January 9, 2016, and even after nine months, it is still running at three theaters in Japan and has reportedly earned 800 million yen from 460,000 ticket sales.
