Mantan Web reported today that Shueisha had confirmed that the latest 42nd issue of its Weekly Shonen Jump magazine is already almost sold out at Japanese stores. The issue released last Saturday in Japan includes the final chapter of Osamu Akimoto's long-running comedy manga series Kochira Katsushika-ku Kameari Kouen Mae Hashutsujo, KochiKame for short. The chapter is also included in the last 200th tankobon volume released on the same day with the issue, but each edition has a different ending, that's why the issue has become a must-have item for the fans. Shueisha says there is no plans for reprint of the issue.
According to Japan Magazine Publishers Association, the circulation of the top-selling weekly manga magazine is 2.17 million copies (April-June 2016). The print edition of the 200th volume sold 207,000 copies in its first week and was already confirmed to receive additional printing only after four days of release. The manga was serialized in the magazine since 1976, and its tankobon's total print run have
exceeded 150 million copies in Japan.
