New details concerning the upcoming anime theatrical film for The Irregular at Magic High School were revealed at the "Dengeki Bunko Autumn Festival 2016" event, including the film's subtitle, a new key visual (below), and a new character.
The film's full title is The Irregular at Magic High School: The Girl Who Calls the Stars.
The new character revealed is named Kokoa. Kokoa is a mysterious girl with a youthful appearance. She escaped from a naval defense base and is under the protection of Miyuki Shiba and her companions.
The Irregular at Magical High School light novel series is written by Tsutomu Satō and illustrated by Kana Ishida. The series is published by ASCII Media Works under their Dengeki Bunko label, and an English language version of the series is also published by Yen Press.
The Irregular at Magical High School was adapted into a TV anime in 2014, which is available via streaming on Crunchyroll. Crunchyroll describes the series as follows:
"The Irregular at Magic High School is set in a world where magic exists but instead of using chants and spells, magic users cast spells with their Casting Assistant Device (CAD). The CAD is infused with the user’s Psions (a substance-less thought particle) that activates the device and constructs the magic ritual."
The Irregular at Magic High School: The Girl Who Calls the Stars will debut in Japanese theaters in early summer of 2017.
