The official website for the upcoming live-action film Death Note Light up the NEW world, a sequel to the two live-action films in 2006, today confirmed that 28-year-old actor Touri Matsuzaka, best known as Takeru Shiba/Shinken Red in Samurai Sentai Shinkenger and Ken Washio in Gatchaman(2013 live-action film), is voicing Bepo, one of the new shinigamis in the film. Matsuzaka, who has been a big fan of the original manga series, previously worked with the director Shinsuke Sato in his All-Round Appraiser Q: The Eyes of Mona Lisa (2014) and Library Wars: The Last Mission (2015). Even though it was a very short session, I enjoyed being in the Death Note world," Matsuzaka posted his comments on the film's official website. "Some people may not recognize it's my voice. I hope you can enjoy the film without much preconception."
In the sequel film, 43-year-old Japanese kabuki and film actor Shidou Nakamura reprises his role as
Ryuk, while 31-year-old voice actress Miyuki Sawashiro, well-known for her portray as Mineko Fuji in
Lupin The Third, is cast as another new shinigami Arma.
