To promote the release in Japan yesterday, Kodansha has posted a two-minute drawing video of the cover illustration for Kazuhiro Kiuchi's 10th novel "Usodesukedo, Nanika?" (I lied, So what?) onto its official YouTube channel. The realistic art was drawn by the author himself, used to be known as the artist of the Be-Bop High School manga series in 1980's and '90s. After ended the serialization of the huge successful high school thug-comedy manga series in 2003, he has focused his activities on novel writing. According to the video, this is his first illustration work in 36 years.
The video also confirms that a new live-action film adaptation of his first novel "Wara no Tate" (Shield of Straw) published in 2004 is in the works in Hollywood for a fall 2017 release. The action novel was previously adapted into a live-action film by Takashi Miike in Japan in 2013.
