Tokyo-based robot company Speecys is planned to release the world's first real 3D motion figure "Model MOFI7 Pro" in February 2017. The company was founded by Tomoaki Kasuga, the developer of Sony's popular robot dog AIBO.
The 45cm-tall figure has 34 joints, and its outer skin is made of hard plastic called " Real 3D Skin." It has RaspberryPi3 (with Linux) as its CPU, and is able to make dance moves using the "MikuMikuDance" software. The price for the pre-painted version with a standard outer skin is 980,000 yen (excluding tax/about 9,400 US dollars). The figure will be displayed at the upcoming Business Frontier Fair to be held at Tokyo Big Sight from October 31 to November 2.
