Inti Creates held a 20th Anniversary Fan Festa event in Ichikawa, Japan, and they took the opportunity to announce a new game. After acquiring the rights to Sunsoft's original 1988 NES classic Blaster Master, Inti Creates started work on a new entry in the series, Blaster Master Zero, which is coming to the Nintendo 3DS eShop in spring 2017.
The goal is to use the original game as a base for a "fully 8-bit experience," hearkening back to the NES while using current technology for a fresh experience. Thus, Blaster Master Zero will include new areas, new bosses, improved gameplay when battling outside of the Sophia 3rd tank, new sub-weapons, and more.
An official website is now live, and you can read more about the story and some gameplay additions over at the Inti Creates blog.
