According to Chinese entertainment blog Gamersky.com, Shueisha has announced an new IP licensing deal that will allow international companies to adapt some of Shueisha's publications, including an upcoming live-action TV drama version of Himouto! Umaru-chan that will be released in China in 2017.
Screenplay work is apparently already underway for the live-action adaptation, which will be based on the manga by Sankaku Head that is published in Shueisha's Weekly Young Jump seinen manga magazine. Other companies mentioned in the licensing agreement include Chinese Internet provider NetEase, trading company Caesar Co., Ltd., book publisher Penguin Compass, and Haiti TV.
