Sony Pictures Japan today posted a 90-second first trailer for the upcoming second live-action film adaptation of Ken Wakui's Shinjuku Swan: Kabukicho Scout Survival manga, Shinjuku Swan II. 34-year-old Go Ayano reprises his role as the protagonist Tastuhiko Shiratori, who works as a scout for the Kabukicho red light district of Shinjuku, Tokyo. The trailer also introduces the film's insert song "Emu" performed by six-member Japanese rock band UVERworld and theme song "Dead End in Tokyo" by five-member wolf-masked band MAN WITH A MISSION.
The first film was released in Japan on May 30, 2015, and made a decent 1.33 billion yen. The first film's Shion Sono (Himizu, Tokyo Tribe) returns to the director's chair. And it is confirmed that highly acclaimed Japanese action/stunt director Kenji Tanigaki, best known for his works with Hong Kong action star Donnie Yen and for the Rurouni Kenshin live-action films, has joined as the action director.
The sequel film based on the manga's "Yokohama Kingdom" arc is set for a release on January 21, 2017.
