Shōtarō Tokunō launched New Game! in Manga Time Kirara Carat in January 2013, and it didn't take long before fans were predicting/hoping for an anime adaptation. In fact, they were literally praying for one with New Year's ema. Summer 2016 brought that anime. And, so they look forward to the New Year, Tokunō joined the anime's site in celebrating the start of the Year of the Rooster.
