For 70 years, Ito city in the Shizuoka prefecture has been celebrating Japan's first launch of western-style ships, constructed with the aid of English navigator, shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu aid and first Western samurai (also the basis for the lead in Shogun) William Adams. This season's anime adaptation of Kozue Amano's SCUBA series Amanchu! announced plans to come out and enjoy the taiko drumming, fireworks and the like at the Anjin Festival.
The event takes place August 5-11. Specifics of the Amanchu! collaboration have not been revealed, but a visual has been published.
