"Boruto -Naruto The Movie-" Dominates Japan's Blu-ray Sales Chart

According to the Oricon's newest report, the perfect limited edition Blu-ray disc of Boruto -Naruto The Movie- that was released in Japan on July 6 sold 31,000 units in its first week, ranking No.1 in its weekly overall Blu-ray sales chart. The film's DVD also sold 24,000 units, ranking second in the chart. This is the second time for the Naruto anime franchise to take top spot in the weekly Blu-ray sales chart, following The Last: Naruto the Movie released in July 2015 and sold 19,000 Blu-ray discs and 19,000 DVDs.

 

The limited edition includes a newly-produced anime short based on "The Day When Naruto Became Hokage" manga episode drawn by the original author Masashi Kishimoto. The episode was originally produced for the special booklet "Naruto - Hiden Zai no Sho Official Movie Book" that the first two million audience of the Boruto film were able to receive at theaters.

 

The 11th Naruto film featuring Naruto and Hinata's son Boruto Uzumaki as the new protagonist was

released in Japan on August 7, 2015. It earned an impressive 2,62 billion yen from its domestic run,

becoming the most successful film in the anime franchise started in 2002. It was also the 11th top-

grossing Japanese film of the year 2015.
