Crunchyroll previously reported on the development of Hand Shakers, an original TV anime project that celebrates the 30th anniversary of the Animate chain of retail stores. Now the official website for the series has published new artwork for three of its cast of characters.
The characters illustrated include:
Tazuna (voiced by Soma Saito) and Koyori (voiced by Sumire Morohoshi), a pair of Hand Shakers who are codenamed "Gear".
A mysterious man named Makihara (voiced by Showtaro Morikubo) was also revealed. At least 4 other teams of Hand Shakers - codenamed "Card", "Shadow", "Sword", and "Chain" - will be revealed at a later date.
Although their characters have not yet been identified, Hand Shakers will also include the voice talents of Shintarō Asanuma, Sora Amamiya, Kaito Ishikawa, Ai Kakuma, Ai Kayano, Yūsuke Kobayashi, Mikako Komatsu, Satomi Satō, Tomokazu Sugita, Risa Taneda, Kenjiro Tsuda, Daisuke Namikawa, Saori Hayami, Yōko Hikasa, Jun Fukuyama, and Ayumu Murase.
Set in Osaka in the near future, the story of Hand Shakers involves pairs of people called "Hand Shakers" who can link hands and summon powerful psychic weapons known "Nimrodes". The Hand Shakers compete against one another in combat, and the pair that vanquishes all the others wins the right to challenge "God" to earn the granting of a wish.
Hand Shakers is features animation by GoHands and production assistance by Kadokawa and Frontier Works. The series will debut on Japanese television in January of 2017.
