An action-packed new teaser trailer for Higanjima Deluxe, an upcoming live-action film based on the Higanjima horror manga by Kōji Matsumoto, is now available online.
The original Higanjima manga and its spin-offs and sequels are serialized in Kodansha's Young Magazine. The story involves a small group of humans trying to survive on an isolated island overrun by ravenous vampires and hideous monsters.
Higanjima has previously been adapted into a live-action film (directed by Kim Tae-Kyun) in 2010 as well as a live-action TV series (directed by Kenji Yokoi) in 2013. The 2010 film is licensed and distributed in the U.S. by Funimation under the title Higanjima: Escape from Vampire Island.
Higanijma Deluxe is directed by Takeshi Watanabe and stars Shunya Shiraishi and Ryohei Suzuki as brothers Akira and Atsushi Miyamoto, respectively. The film hits theaters in Japan on October 15, 2016.
