The anime adaptation of Tadatoshi Fujimaki's sports manga Kuroko's Basketball is set to be featured in a series of anime movie, starting with a trilogy of Winter Cup compilations. The first part "Kage to Hikari" (Shadow and Light) will be screened for two weeks in 31 Japanese theaters from September. Then the second part, "Namida no Saki he" (Ahead of Tears) opens October 8, and the third part, "Tobira no Mukou" (Beyond The Door) opens December 3. These will be followed by an adaptation of the Kuroko's Basketball EXTRA GAME follow-up manga, schedule for 2017. An early look at the visual for that movie has leaked online.
Extra Game follows the Generation of Miracles plus Kuroko Tetsuya and Kagami Taiga, along with bench players Hyūga Junpei, Takao Kazunari, and Wakamatsu Kōsuke, forming Team Vorpal Swords, to avenge the Japanese spirit against American street basketball team Jabberwock.
