Veteran voice actress Megumi Hayashibara, who has played characters ranging from Rei Ayanami in Neon Genesis Evangelion to Hakumen no Mono in Ushio and Tora, is joining the cast of Sengoku Chōjū-giga as the narrator. It was also announced that the theme song for the series wlll be provided by Chōjū GIG, an original unit composed of voice actors for the show.
Sengoku Chōjū-giga is an upcoming short form TV anime comedy that re-imagines warlords and warriors from the Warring States period of Japanese history as comical cartoon animals. The visuals for the series are inspired by the Chōjū-jinbutsu-giga, a series of ink-wash paintings on scrolls that are considered a national treasure in Japan.
Sengoku Chōjū-giga is directed by Takashi Sumida and features animation by ILCA. Each episode is approximately 5 minutes in length. The series begins its Japanese broadcast on KBC TV on October 08, 2016, with additional broadcasts to follow on tvk, Teletama, Chiba TV, and Sun TV.
