"Shin Godzilla" Has Earned Massive Six Billion Yen in 38 Days

It is confirmed today that, as of Sepetmber 4, the Shinji Higuchi-directed 29th Japanese Godzilla film, Shin Godzilla earned a massive 6,017,239,800 yen (about 58.25 million US dollars) with 4,129,595 ticket sales in 38 days since its release in Japan on July 29. It has already become the top-grossing live-action film of 2016 in Japan so far, breaking the previous record of 4.61 billion yen marked by Nobunaga Concerto, and is expected to break the 2016 box office record of 6.31 billion yen by Detective Conan: The Darkest Nightmare very soon.

 

Supported by strong word of mouth and extremely positive reviews, the film takes the second place back in the latest weekend box office of September 3-4 from the previous week's third.
