Back-Library Of "Robotech" Comics To Be Reprinted

This year, Titan Comics and Harmony Gold USA announced plans to develop a new comic based on Robotech—the localized '80s TV series cobbled together from the original Macross anime, as well as Super Dimension Cavalry Southern Cross and Genesis Climber Mospeada—in 2017, and they announced plans to re-release the library of existing Robotech comics. Recently site Den of Geeks caught up with HG to get some details.

Harmony Gold Vice President of Marketing Kevin McKeever indicated that Titan is going to launch the new comic book series first and then, followed soon after by the back catalog, and also clarified that it was just the Comico titles that would be released through Titan, but the entire back catalog.

“There’s tremendous fan demand to release the old stuff. One of the questions we’re constantly asked, ‘Will the old comics ever be released as a trade paperback or as digital downloads?’ They’re very difficult to find, even the stuff from Wildstorm a few years ago sold out very quickly.”

“Right now they’re just checking to make sure all the old comics are reprintable from a technical standpoint.”

Robotech has been adapted into original English comics by

  • Comico (1984–1989)
  • Eternity Comics (1988–1994)
  • Academy Comics (1994–1996)
  • Antarctic Press (1997–1998)
  • Wildstorm (DC) (2002–2005)
  • Dynamite Entertainment (2013–2015)
